2010 Wheel Ride for Food

Annual Charity Cycling Event

The 3rd Annual Wheel Ride for Food was a great success!!! This year's event brought out 213 cyclists to ride the Half-metric, Metric Century and the newest 100-mile Century ride. Together with our sponsors, these riders helped raise $26,503!!!

213 Cyclists rode over 13,813 miles to help relieve hunger and isolation among our homebound seniors!

Sign One gets Meals On Wheels Noticed!

A highlight of the morning was the unveiling of the newly wrapped Meals On Wheels delivery van. Dean Jones of local Asheville-based Sign One donated his time, talents and materials to give the Meals On Wheels van a fresh, bold look that showcased the companies that participated in the Corporate Delivery Partners program. Jones came to Meals On Wheels earlier in the year with an idea to increase the public's awareness of the agency's mission by making the vans more noticeable while driving around town.

The new color scheme and fresh look already turned heads around town. Meals On Wheels is excited about this powerful marketing tool and looks forward to having 2 more of its delivery vans wrapped by Sign One.

The Annual Wheel Ride For Food is more than just a bike ride through some of the most beautiful communities and back roads that Western NC has to offer. It's a fundraiser with 100% of proceeds going to support Meals On Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County.

Each day, nearly 500 homebound seniors eagerly look out their windows waiting for a visit from Meals On Wheels. For many, it's the highlight of an otherwise lonely day. Meals On Wheels brings food, friendship and the opportunity for them to remain independent and live in their own home. They need our support because everyone deserves to grow old with dignity!
