2012 Polar Bear Plunge
Meals On Wheels would like to thank Dennis Hulsing and the staff of the Asheville Racquet Club for their hospitality in hosting the 4th Annual Polar Bear Plunge. We're especially grateful to the 31 Polar Bears, our sponsors and to everyone who came out in support of this fundraiser!

This year's event raised over $21,500 to help us in our mission to care for Buncombe County seniors and help them remain independent.
January and February had been fairly mild weather months until the day of our 4th annual Polar Bear Plunge when Mother Nature finally showed up! The first snowfall of the new year delivered an arctic blast of 21 degrees with a Northwest wind at about 17mph. The water temperature of the Asheville Racquet Club's outdoor pool was 44 degrees! All in all - a perfect day for a Polar Plunge!
